Nicole Urbanski

The Back Story

Following training as a dressmaker at a couture atelier in Düsseldorf, Nicole arrived in London in 1987 with her sewing machine in her rucksack.

Within the first six months of arrival she was fortunate to be discovered by the BBC and continued to work on costumes for television and both national and international movies, working alongside designers such as Lindy Hemming and Jean Paul Gaultier.

She fell in love with Sussex whilst making costumes for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and decided to make Brighton her home.

With a desire to return to fashion, Nicole designed her first independent collection in 1997 and her accessories collection was sold at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores in the USA.

'Nicole Urbanski Boutique' opened in 2011, where she stocked her own label, offered a bespoke service, as well as collections from France, Germany and Denmark.

In 2012 it was chosen by Joan Rivers to film an episode of her reality show 'Joan knows best'.

The Carmen coat collection is still her bestselling collection and she now offers her designs to retailers throughout the UK.

One of her Carmen designs was bought by a film production company for Priyanka Chopra.
