Exactly ten years ago I sent a selection of stories I had been writing to Umi Sinha, an author and teacher of creative writing, who I had met through a friend of mine. To my surprise she told me the following:' 'Nicole, I think you have a voice. You have some really interesting material here both on a cultural
and personal level. The language and grammar may need some editing but this is a minor issue. You have a strong enough voice, even in your second language, to come across clearly and individually.'
With her encouragement and technical advice I continued to write.
My memoir, 'Tales of a dressmaker' ,is a work in progress, however I have decided to publish excerpts here as a blog.
Enjoy reading and please comment, like or subscribe, Nicole
